Remuera Residence
The owners wanted a kitchen that felt calm, architectural and highly functional without dominating the open-plan living space. With soaring ceilings, expansive glazing and a striking double-sided fireplace already defining the architecture, the kitchen needed to complement the home rather than compete with it. The design brief focused on creating a sophisticated entertaining space with generous storage, integrated appliances and a refined material palette.
The Brief
A minimalist handleless kitchen was selected to maintain clean sightlines throughout the living area.
Dark cabinetry creates a strong visual anchor within the bright interior, while warm timber flooring softens the overall composition. The full-height cabinetry wall conceals storage, refrigeration and appliances behind a seamless facade, allowing the space to remain uncluttered and timeless.
The oversized island provides a generous preparation area and everyday gathering point, while the adjacent dining setting encourages effortless connection between cooking, dining and entertaining.
Every element was carefully considered to enhance the architecture of the home while maintaining practical functionality for family living.
