Herne Bay
The Brief
Located in the heart of Herne Bay, Auckland, this bespoke kitchen combines German engineering with timeless natural materials, creating a space that feels refined, functional and built to last.
Designed around Nobilia German cabinetry, the palette pairs a textured concrete-effect finish with warm oak timber to introduce contrast, warmth and depth. The result is a contemporary kitchen that feels architectural, yet warm enough for everyday Kiwi living.
A dramatic natural stone island and full-height splashback become the centrepiece of the home, with continuous veining flowing across the benchtop, waterfall ends and splashback.
To keep the design clean and uninterrupted, the kitchen features fully integrated fridge and freezer cabinetry. NEFF built-in appliances, including the oven and microwave, sit seamlessly within the tall cabinetry.
One of the defining details is the custom bevelled open shelving. Each open shelf has been finished with bevelled edges, creating a refined furniture-like detail that highlights the warmth and texture of the oak interior.
Every element has been carefully considered, from integrated appliances and concealed storage to natural stone, timber texture and precise German detailing.
